JDR One-Day Marketing Workshop

On Thursday 31st May we held our second ‘One day marketing workshop’, a free quarterly event for clients to help you increase your enquiries and sales from your online and offline marketing.

The next event will be at the end of September – dates will be announced soon, until then here is a run-down of what we covered in May:

The day was chaired by ‘master of ceremonies’ David Roberts, award winning business coach and MD of JDR, who started by introducing Will Williamson as the first speaker.

We began with a recap of some of the big news stories from the world of internet marketing in the past three months: the Facebook IPO, Google’s ‘Penguin’ update and their acquisition of Motorola Mobility, the extraordinary rise of social network Pinterest and the viral YouTube video sensation ‘Kony 2012’.

Will then presented ‘6 things (almost) no-one is doing in social media’ – a guide to why most business owners fail to get social networking to work for them. It included lots of practical strategies for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn – how to increase fans and followers, and how to convert them into sales and enquiries.

JDR - May Event Next up were three presentations by the search marketing specialists Jarrad Mordue, Daniel Baker and Natalie Eastaugh. Jarrad explained the importance of fresh content and gave several easy-to-implement ideas and showed the importance of a good CMS platform for your website. Daniels talk was called ‘how to get your phone ringing with new enquiries’ and covered three major principles behind increasing your websites conversion rates. Natalie gave ‘7 ways to boost your Google ranking’, tips for small business owners to further increase search engine visibility whether you are investing in SEO or not.

In the afternoon session Leanne Mordue broke some exciting news about mobile marketing (there will be more to follow, so watch this space!) and showed the huge trend towards mobile internet use and how business owners can take advantage. After Leanne, Will gave a short guide to understanding and using Google Analytics data and talked through three tools JDR provide to help clients measure conversion rates and enquiries.

The day was then wrapped up by David Roberts who showed how (when done right) email marketing is a powerful and highly profitable marketing strategy.

We’ve had some great feedback on the day (thank you so much for this!) and are really looking forward to the next event.
We would love it if you could let us know if there are any topics you would like to know more about – in online OR offline marketing. Send us an email, tweet us (@jdrwebsites) or post to our Facebook wall and tell us your thoughts so we can ensure we cover the issues that matter most to you at our next session.
